It is the oldest German language newspaper in Texas.VOELCKER MURDER...Thisbegins the inquiry of Wilhelm Faust on Nov. 20, arrested as the accused murderer of EmmaVoelcker and as the perpetrator of the attempted murder of his wife, Helen Faust, on the nights of July 22 to July 23, in the home of Julius Voelcker in New Braunfels.Judge John P. White of the 22nd District presides over the inquiry; the state is represented by attorney John Ireland and districtattorney Burgess, the accused by attorneys Rust, Goodrich, and Douglas from Seguin.. Zeitung Editor: We present a general summary of testimonial evidence... Isom Taylor, “On the night of July 22 I was riding slowly. The horse approaching me swiftly was a dark roan and it belongs to Mr. Johnson in Seguin. The man riding it was Faust. He was without a hat; I saw his bald head”... MrsCarl Mueller, “On Tuesday morning Mrs. Faust came to me. Her husband had gone to Seguin. I told her to sleep at my house. She declined and said her husbandsaid during his absence she should sleep at Voelcker’s house.It was during this time the murder was committed. The night of the murder when Mrs.Faust took herdogs along to Voelcker s house, the dogs were barking but she quieted them and went to bed. But as she was being assaulted the dogs did not bark.”.. All of the old officers werere-elected by acclamation with the exception of secretary Bob Hering who resigned as secretary after two years successful service. W.H. Adams was selected to fillhis office. Mr. Hering made a splendid report on the financial condition of the association, despite the unfavorable weather w'ith which they have been handicapped... Three new directors were elected for the three year term, August Triesch, W.H. Adams and Homer Frieze.Mr. and Mrs. John Schnabel, of Santa Clara, entertained last Sunday, Nov. 16, a large party of relatives and friends, as their grandchildren Carolyn Esther and Jocelyn Anne Biesele the pretty little twins of Mr. Carl Bieseleand wife, Josephine, nee Schnabel, were baptized by Rev. G. Mornhinweg. The sponsors are Miss Esther Schnabel, Mrs. AnnaBiesele, Mr. Rudolph Biesele, Mrs. Elsie Schnabel, Mr. Julius Biesele, and Miss Barbara Ploetz.
