A pool of jurors will be selected for the case against a Pitt-Johnstown student ~~ with rape. John Henry McGuire, 21, of Lancaster County, was charged with rape, sexual assault and indecent assault after an alleged assault in Maple Hall on Jan. 18. A female student said she and McGuire shared text messages after meeting through an online dating site before she invited him to her room, where she told police the assault took place. McGuire, who remains free on bond, is represented by Johnstown attorney David Weaver. Jury selection in the case of a Gallitzin man charged with drunken driving in a crash that killed a Loretto man in July is scheduled to begin Dec. 1 in Judge Linda Fleming's court room. Police said Edward Keith Roudybush, 27, of the 100 block of Kid Long Road, was driving a pickup truck south at 75 mph on Route 53 when he lost control on a curve, crossed the center line and collided with a motor cycle driven by William Sch weiters, 56. Last week, Roudybush’s law yers, David Kaltenbaugh and Thomas Dickey, said Roudybush was offered a plea agreement and would have until Nov. 30 to accept or reject it in time to noti fy jurors, who were originally scheduled to appear Dec. 3. Roudybush faces charges of vehicular homicide and homi cide by vehicle while driving under the influence. He also has two other pending DUI cases. On Dec. 3, Fleming will over see jury selection in the case against David Roy Herdman, 56, of Johnstown. Herdman is facing 17 sex-re lated charges involving the alleged rape of a teenage girl. Police said Herdman main tained a sexual relationship with the girl for about two years, beginning when she was 13, and would sometimes force himself on her while she slept. Herdman’s attorney is Arthur McQuillan of Johnstown. The case against a Wind ber man charged with sexually assaulting an underage girl is scheduled for jury selection in Judge David Tulowitzki’s court room. In July, Adams Township police charged John Paul Custer, 50, of the 1900 block of Centennial Drive, with indecent assault, involuntary deviate sex ual intercourse with a victim younger than 16 and corruption of minors. In a criminal complaint, police allege Custer assault ed the girl on April 27. The girl told a friend, and Cambria County Children and Youth Services was later contacted. Custer will be represented by attorney Jeffrey Miller of Johnstown. Judge Norman Krumenack er III has three cases on the docket for jury selection, one of which involves a 70-year-old Johnstown man charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year old girl. Harry Andrew Stantz is accused of sexually assaulting the girl numerous times over a two-year period in his home in the 1000 block of Jaco by Street in the Walnut Grove section of the city. In a criminal complaint, Johnstown police said they were contacted by the child's mother and that Stantz later admitted to having sexual rela tions with the chil Attorney Jeffrey Miller of Johnstown is representing Stantz. Krumenacker will also select jurors for cases against Sean Castapheny, Antoine Horn buckle and Shakir Smith. Castapheny faces several drug and firearm charges, and Hornbuckle has been charged with drug possession. Smith’s case on drugs and weapons charges will be han dled by the state attorney gen eral's offic. A handful of cases will head to nonjury trials next week, and three cases are listed on the jury trial list to be handled by the first available judge.
