Gives Marshal the Slip,Last Saturday Marshal Flemming received from the sheriff of Wells county a warrant for the arrest of Elzie Pennington, who was wanted at Bluff ton on a paternity charge. Pennington was in Sway-zee at the time, and Flemming promptly made the arrest. Pennington desired to go to his father’s home to change clothes before leaving town, and while the two were walking past Bryan lt;fc Woods store the prisoner asked permission to enter the store and get his overcoat. The permission was granted and the officer awaited his return at the front door. But instead of returning to the front door Pennington got his coat, walked through the store and out at the rear door, and the marshal has not seen nor heard from him since.Descriptions of the fugitive havebeen sent to neighboring towns andthe officers are on the lookout, but so far no trace of him has been found. His case has been certified to the circuit court of Wells county.
