Tuesday.—In * swamp-bound one-room shark housing eight persons police found a five-year-old boy penned under a child's cot with chicken wire.The inquiry started when Mr-.. Laurett Schlcichert brought a three-year-old adopted boy to the hospital at Bridgeport (New England) suffering a stomach wound, which, she said, was caused when he fell on a pair of scissors.The child was suffering from mal nutrition.Police located the family In a shack 10 miles from Bridgeport.After wading through 200 feet of swamp. State troopers found the Schleichcrt’s shack, which they describe as a pigsty, crawling with vermin and with pigs, rabbits and chickens wandering in and out.In thLs squalid room lived Mrs. Schlcichert her husband. Prank, a 21-year-old married daughter, three other daughters ranging from three to seven years and two boys, adopted children.All the children were removed to hospital for treatment lor malnutrition.The Schlelcherts were arrested for exposing children to injury.Schleichert. according to the police, is employed by a florist, receives more than £15 a week, dresses well and drives a car
