She had a right to be left alone even in the context of marriage,” Wambach said.Pointing to the witness stand, McCrory countered: “Here, she says, ‘I don't want a single copper penny from Don.’ At home, with her friends and lovers, she bragsabout the millions she will receive from Don.”McCory noted the medical testimony that Lukas had trouble performing sex, and the defense attorney told the jury:“To find Don guilty, you’ve got to believe everything (the woman) said, not believe her bad reputation for telling the truth and believe that a 1-in-1,000 chance could happen three times in January.”Despite the allegations, the woman stayed with Lukas, McCrory said, though “she had the money to leave, the resources to leave, and she knew where to go.... Mr. Lukas had a fine reputation. It’s been stolen from him by (the woman) and her bizarre allegations, by a woman whose friends said shewanted his money.”
