INSANE NEGRO SHOTWhile Prowling Around a FarHouse in Cass County.Henry Lindsey, an insane colored farm hand, was shot in the head by Chris Honick, a farmer living north of Burrows, Tuesday morning. Honick was awakened by the negro at 2 o’clock and ordered him away. Lindsey suddenly started toward the house, walking rapidly with his head lowered. Honick, who was standing on the porch with a shot gun in his hand, discharged the weapon. The shot struck the negro on the top of his head, tearing the scalp and fracturing the skull. His felt hat was riddled by the shot. Honick took| the unconscious man into the house and telephoned for the authorities at Lo-gansport. He was removed to the hospital in that city and did not regain consciousness until Wednesday morning ! when he told the doctor that he was feeling fairly well. All traces of insan-ity have diappeared and his physicians believe he will recover and be perfectly sane.On Sunday Lindsley became insane in Jefferson township, near the White county line, and officers were called from Bumettsville to get him. He wastaken to Burnettsville and held until!I dMonday noon when he was released. IThe officers wanted the Logansport authorities to take him off their hands, but the Logansport officers refused, claiming it White county’s duty to look after him. No blame is attached to Honick, who did not know the man wasinsane.
