Anchorage Police Still Investigating 7 Women's Deaths The Alaska State Troopers in Anchorage are still investigating the murders of seven womenor girls killed this year.Four of the victims werekilled in the Anchorage area,a 9-year-old girl died in Kotzebue, and two women wereslain near Fairbanks.Bob Jent, head of the troopers’ major crime unit in Anchorage, said the alleged killer of another victim, 16-year-old Kimberly Bell, has been apprehended and is awaiting trial. Ernesto Rodriguez of Ft. Richardson was arrested last month and charged with the killing of the Anchorage girl.The 1978 homicides, yet unsolved include: the Jan. 7 slaying of Shelley Connolly, 16; the May 19 death of businesswoman Shirley Moddenmey-er, 50; the May 30 killing of Edith Purvis, 23; the July 1rape and murder of Vicky Gail Weber, 9, of Kotzebue; the death of an unknown woman whose skull was found nearRabbit Creek Road Aug. 7;and the deaths of Doreen Titus and Mary Covington, both of Fairbanks.
