BOLD BEER BURGLARS*A Noted Quartette Raid Sam Dahn’t BeerShopMonday night between 11 o’clock and midnight night switchmen on the Madison branch discovered some per* sons in Sam Dahn’s beer house.The police force were promptly notified and reached the scene as the rogues were making their escape lt;with a keg apiece of beer. Being closely pursued they /dropped the beer and Henry Stader, who was released from jail last week after serving a sentence for stealing a bicycle at the Newbern fair belonging to Tom Ferner, was captured then and there. He was taken and lodged in jail.Smith’s hounds were then secured and placed on the trail of one of the men that was seen. The hounds followed the-trail several blocks and finally stopped at the house where Wm. Riley lives, on Wilson street near Seventh. Riley was arrested and lodged in jail also.This morning Policeman Pence ar rested John Wright, better known as “Budweiserand lodged him in jail, leaving one of the quartette yet to be arrested, who is known.The trio were brought before Justice Stader this afternoon and their trial was set for 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon. In the meantime the trio will remain in jail, being unable to give bond.
