A SAD CASE.A Young Woman Attempts SuicUle at theButler House.Last evening about 9:30 Mrs. Emma Alexander, who is stopping at the Butler House, made an ineffectual attempt at suicide by taking morphine. The story is quite a sad one for the woman is young, about twenty-one, and good looking. She came here from Owensborough, Ky.. to meet her husbind, John Alexander, whohas been in Chicago. Thecouple quarrelled and separated but had plighted their affections anew and were to meet each o her here and live together again. Th * young lady has been here several days waiting for her husband w.io did not come. Last night tired of waiting and heartbroken she determined to end her life but the attempt was fruitless.Her parents reside in Owensborough, Ky., their names, however, she refused to disclose.Mr. John Alexander, the husband, is a young traveling man who has been making his headquarters at Chicago of late and to whom she was mar ried two years ago.The physicians labored for a long time with her and it was only by their most strenuous efforts that her life was saved.
