(/P)—Peace authorities today were seeking two men, one believed to be i wounded, who were believed to have abandoned a car on Highway 297 near here after they had pulled a gun on Sheriff Emery Hart at Independence and escaped from the sheriff's office.Waterloo Chief of Police Harry Krieg said the car, recovered last night and brought to Uie Waterloo police station, had been stolen Nov. 12 at Elgin, 111. There was blood in the car, he said.At Independence, Sheriff Hart fiald he had ascertained from a social security card on one of the youths that he was Gerald Dean Olson, of Union, III. The otber youth gave the name of Dick Gordon, Sheriff Hart i»ald.The sheriff said he had called Mrs. Alfred Olson, the mother of Olson, at Union, 111., and she had asked that the two boys be held, as they were wanted by Illinois authorities.• * •“THEY had pulled some kind of a job In Illinois,” Sheriff Hart said.Hart gave this version of the escape:“1 got a call from Everett Ax-line, a junk dealer who operates a shop on Highway 20 a quarter of a mile west of Independence. :He said these two had driven up to his place and stopped, and he was suspicious of them.aI DROVE; out there,: and found only one license plate, and it was awfully dirty and on the front of the car.“I called Mrs. Olson, and after talking to her I told the boys I would have to hold them.
