He was accused of exceeding the speed limit by 10 miles an hour. The charges stemmed from a one-car accident foi lowing a police chase here Thursday about 1:15 a.m.Leonard was driving a 1356 Chevrolet north at a “high rate of speed on Palmer Street from Main, with the police car in pursuit, Police Officer Forrest Perdue reported. The Leonard car failed to negotiate the corner at Second Street, careened into; the yard of Dave Amspoker, knocked down a stake, tore down a Aog fence, ripped up two evergreen trees, climbed an emhankm e n t and knocked down another fence along the drive. The car came to rest with its front wheels 'on the drive and the rear end'a-gainst the Amspoker house, the officer said. .
