Pined $25 In the Police Court lorViolating City Ordinance.The Christian ScientiBt-ecarlatlna affair was finally fettled in the police court this morning by Mr, Lincicome, ■the Christian Scientist being fined $23 ; for viloating a city ordinance providing i that all professional advisors who attend contageous diseased will report the same | to the city physician immediately. The trial of Mrl Lincicome was a very interesting one and lasted for about two hours. Major llreeden appeared for ti e defense anil City Attorney Whipple pmicuted, l)rs, Conroy, Coulterand (i raves were examined andtestified that the cause of the death of Edith Myrtle Welch was n contagious disease*Prof* Smith testified that Mr, Llnci*come was called to hie house to aduiiriia-tc r to the tick child by the parents. Mrs. Houston, a Christian scientistwoman* said that Mr, Lincicome was the leader of their organization in this city and was usuallyjwdlod to administer to the sick as an agent of divine power. Mr, Lincicome said he recosr^ nized no disease in the holy. Ho believed that sickness was only a belie!which could bo removed from the mind by Christian Science, All the supposeddiseases were the sanies to him and he believed none to be contagious* The defense attempted to prove thathe did not go to the house as a medical advisor or physician but only as a believer in supernatural powers. JusticeIlagley held that he was guilty because he did use his profession to remote the belief as lie so-called it __ the same as a physician would administer medicine to remove the disease, and that he did notreport the disease to the proper authorities as required, consequently he wasfound eimty.
