“ THE ANTI-SALOONK.-UT.tor.her.tor.ORDINANCE PASSEDEvery Member of Council Present Voted For Its Passage, and It Will Go in Effect November 27th.From and afler November 27, two weeks from next Wednesday, Xenia will be a “dry” city. All the saloons mast go at that time.The ordinanoe whioh abolishes the saloons and whioh has been pending for a number of weeks past, came ap for its final reading and passage at the regular meeting of oouncil last night. Farrell, McDonald and Taylor were absent.President Marshall oooupied the chair, and at the call for ordinance* for the third reading the measure prohibiting the salooons, which is published elsewhere in full in this paper, was read by the clerk. Then the vote on its passage was taken and every member present registered his vote in its favor. The members present who voted for it were Garfield, Wilson, Kiernan, Alexander, Dice, Brannen, Marshall, Conwell, Lupton and Smith.As the roll was called and the members responded favorable for its passage, there was a little stir among the large crowd of spectators present, but there was no demonstration or evidence of approval or disapproval, whatever. They began to file out the door and the ordinanoe was passed up to the president, who affixed his signature and the deed was done.The time for the ordinance to go into effect is the date for the renewal of the Dow tax. There will thus be no refunding of the back taxes.By the voting of the town dry, Xenia is probably made the largest town of the State having no saloons.In all thirty saloons will be pul out of the business. It cost eaob one of them $350 per annum for taxes and the total amount paid by the thirty was $10,500 per annum. On8-half of this amount or $5,250 went to the city, three-tenths of the amount went to the State and the other to the oounty poor fond.Following is a list of the saloons in the vaiious wards of the city:First ward—Florence hotel.Second ward—K. E. Farrell, Fletcher Comiorl, C. M. Fioeok, Peter Foley, Chas. L. Hickman. Emil Planert, Martin Schmidt, Henry Sinx, Hershberger Kelble.Third ward—S. H. Perry, Mike Carroll, Dennis Carroll, Mary Daily, W. S. Graser, C C. Htyner, A. and O. Hornick, Commercial Hotel, Martin Hornick, C. W Ryan, Grand Hotel and Atlas Hotel.Fonrth ward—Hudson Wilson.Fifth ward—J. E. Foley, Geo. Hershberger, Charles Knox, Wm. Lane.Sixth ward—M. J. Dugan, Jno. A. Hornick, Max Simons, Chas.
