Killing of stalker leads to chargesST. LOUIS • A man was indicted on a second-degree murder charge Friday in the shooting death of an unarmed stalker that the suspect’s attorneys call a justifiable act of self-defense.The grand jury charged Richard Pearia, 51, with armed criminal action. Both charges, replacing identical ones on a criminal complaint filed last month, carry a possible life sentence.Pearia’s wife, Kerstin, has been charged with hindering prosecution. Prosecutor Jack Banas said her case remains j under investigation.Donald Brinkmeyer, 51, was shot to death near the Pearias’ home west of St. Louis on Oct. 7, eight days after Kerstin Pearia got a court-issued protection order.
