Convict pleads guilty to killingSTINNETT (AP) — A 2?-year-old man who pleaded guilty to killing a Hutchinson County jailer in 1979 has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for the crime.George Marshall Hall originally had been charged with capital murder in the killing of jailer Jack Thompson, but pleaded guilty Thursday to a murder charge under a plea-bargain agreement, said Hutchinson County District Attorney Roy Carper.The charged stemmed from the 1979 abduction of Thompson by Hall and another inmate, Hall was jailed for non-payment of child support,Thompson was the only jailer at the county jail when he entered Hall’s cell. Hall and the other prisoner grabbed the jailer, took his keys and stole a gun from a desk drawer, authorities said.Thompson was tied up and shot in the head, authorities said.Hal! and the other inmate were captured the next day on State Highway 136 near this Panhandle city.
