Don ton/ formerly employed by the Bn ion Nat ional bank of Chicago. He surprised the prosecuting officers by pleading “not guilty” to two indictment® charging him with the embezzlement of more than $35,000 from thebank. The government officers said they had received what might be considered an admission of guilt from the defendant.\—- ——- — ■ piAnother Dastard and Hi* Victim.Laeon. Ills., Nov. 7.*—W. J. Linn, alias .Tack Cordon, wept to the home of Jacob Schafer, ten miles east of this place, called Mrs. Schafer to the door, and shot her. killing her instantly. He then-fired atiShafer, missing him. Linn was arrested a few hours later in Wyomink. twelve miles distant, and is how in jail in this city. The murder was caused -by jealously. Linn ^had eloped with the woman, who had returned to her husband.•
