Lane Farm Home Razed By FireMike Houlihan Residence Is Scene Of Destructive BlazeLANE, Nov. 7.—{Special)—The farm home occupied by the Mike Houlihan family three mile* south of Lone burned to the ground Tuesday afternoon*The fire Is thought to have started from a defective chimney as it started around tho chimney on the ceiling ofan upstairs room-Mr. Houlihan was in I*ana and only his wife and one grown daughter and a four-ycar-old boy were at home. They had no telephone so it was necessary to run three-quarters of a mile to a i neighbors house to spread the alarm. Many men were away from their home.1;but firemen from Lano hurried out and were aided by other volunteers.The fire fighters were handicapped by lack of water as the well had gone nearly dry last summer so about all tliat could bo done was to move out all the furniture, clothing, bedding and ether possessions. Ibis was nearly all saved.The family has moved to a vacant farm house adjoining their farm, owned by J. J. Hill. Tho house that burned was a fine large structure, also owned by Mr. Kill and was not protected by insurance.The family's winter supply of potatoes and other food, which was stored in the basement, tvas not saved.HOSTESS AT MEETING WESSINGTON. Nov. 7— (Special)-Mrs. Emma Freese entertained her Five Hundred card club at her home Tuesday evening. Mrs. Floyd Patridge won high scoro prize and Mrs. Nellie Patridgc received a consolation prize. The hostess nerved lunch.
