:o:- IArrested After Long Chase.After a chase that led them through the roughest and wildest sections ot Elk county, Game Warden Hogarth and County Detective Jones arrested Ben Prouty, Tuesday on a charge of beating William Wagner to death at Betula, McKean county. The body of the murdered man was buried in the Smethport cemetery Tuesday at the expense of the county. The Bradford Star says: “Prouty disappearedSaturday morning alter it was known that the injured man’s condition was growing dangerous. As W agner did not regain consciousness befort dyingnothing was learned from him as to the identity of his assailant. It is j said that Prouty told an old man at Betula, Saturday morning that he had beaten Wagner. At Smethport, Wednesday morning an autopsy wras performed on Wagner’s body before a jury by Drs. Ostrander and Cum-mings. It was found that several t clots of blood had gathered on the brain owing to the beating.
