The j parties Mr. John W. Farmer, Jr., and bis e brother, E. B. Farmer, left this place after . 'sunset Tuesday evening for their respective e I homes. Both seemed right much under the influence of whiskey, and while on theireI] way home got into a dispute and commentliliefnIaac81ced cursing each otter. When they arrived |b s at the lane near Mr. J. T. Lewis’, within a t ~ j hall mile of where they lived, they separa-h ted, John taking the lane to his home, while r. K. B. Farmer cut across the field to hia !r house, which is about three hundred yards from where his brether John lived. John Farmer had to pass through bis mother's yard to get to his bouse, and while passing e j through the yard his brother, E. B. Farmer,IS 1 met him with his gun, and they commenced n abusing each other again, when the report 1 of a gun was heard by Mrs. Farmer and the j ( r' family, who were in the house. King, of Wilson, probed the wound and *] ' removed therefrom the gun wad. t\ The body was not removed until Wad t j uesday morning when Coroner Peele was t summoned and a Coroner's inquest was' v held, when the following verdict was ren i dered: “That John W. Farmer Jr., came a to bis death caused by a shot wound in the j bieast, from a gun in the hands of E. B. Far- , gmer.”The deceased was about 38 years of age,c r and leaves a wife and six children. iu E. B. Farmer made bis escape and has n not since been heard from.s
