Bryant, who three weeks ago today, figured in’ an unfortunate circumstance at Atlanta in which Leander Crail, 13ftyear-old son of Mr. rfnd Mrs. EarlCrail of: Atlanta was shot throughthe body, was arraigned in circuit' court at Noblesville Wed-■ nesday and entered a plea of not {guilty to a charge of assault andibattery, with intent to commit a felony. Following the plea Judge C. M. Gentry of the Hamilton circuit court fixed Bryant's bond at $500, which he immediatelyfurnished and he was released until the case is called for trial.The charge followed the shoot-! ing of the Crail boy at Atlanta, on1 the evening of October 13, when Bryant, who was at the time town marshal at Atlanta, surprised Crail and several other boys, in an ally where it waa al-j reged they were overturning rubbish receptacles, in a pre-Hallo-| ween prank. The marshal, according to/his story, drew his revolver with the intention of shooting into the air. He asserts the gun discharged as he drew it i i and hit the Crail boy, clipping jj , the liver.It was brought out at the hearing Wednesday that the*~ injured jboy, who was rushed to the Riley j hospital on the evening of the | occurrence, was improving nicely and was out of danger and would likely be brought to hisii -jhome in the next few days.■Since the occurrence Bryant has resigned as town marshal, and the town board' appointed Nathan Mallott to succeed him.The charge of aBaault and battery with intent to commit a felony was filed against Bryant by the mother of the Crail boy, and witnesses listed on the affidavit i; jare James Hudson, Robert Toiu-li; jilnson, Orville Thomas, Dwight |jShepherd, John R.
