ANOTHER MAN KILLED.Monday night another tragedy occurred in this county’', in which an Irish peddler, named Jimmy Gleason, was shot and instantly killed. He lived on a farm, about two miles from New Lebanon, in Gill township. Not long ago Gleason was arrested at the instance of his wife on a peace warrant, and was put in jail. A few days ago he was released, and coining to Sullivan on Monday, got drunk. When intoxicated he is represented as very quarrelsome. It is said he went home about 9 o’clock or after, and entering a room in which his step-son, a lad about 12 or 14 years of age, named Copenhagen and a y^oung man named Parish Owens were lying in bed together. Gleason commenced an assault on both with a chair, declaring his intention of killing them both. After two or thr°e blows had been struck with the chair Owens succeeded in grasping the chair, when Gleason drew a razor. At the same time Owens drew his revolver from under his pillow and shot Gleason through the head, killing him instantly. The yroung lad Copenhager came up to Sullivan and reported ihs fact to the authorities. Coronor Davis went down to hold an inquest. Owens was held in custody to await the result of the examination. We learn that Owens was distantly related to Gleason’s wife, and that Jimmy* was jealous of’ him. He had been living about the place, and Gleason had sought to drive him off, but that Mrs. G. objected to his leaving. The boy says that Gleason had threatened to kill both of them. ........... -..... i
