Detention center riot probed: Six inmates at an Immigration and Naturalization Service detention center in Aurora were held in isolation during the weekend, suspected of instigating a riot at the facility Friday night.A Cuban national at the facility, upset about a disciplinary hearing, is believed to be the main instigator of the riot, which caused one minor injury and an estimated $5,000 in damage to one of the five dormitories on the facility.The uprising, which began shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, ended several hours later after Arapahoe County SWAT personnel used concussion grenades and cayenne pepper-based gas.Ralph Bombardiere, assistant administrator of the facility, said it was a spontaneous incident. The 38 inmates involved made no demands, he said.Officials declined to release the names of the six being held.Former bank robbery suspect dies:Paul Yocum, a former United Bank guard acquitted on charges of stealing about $30,000 from a bank teller machine and once a suspect in the 1991 Father’s Day bank execution-rob-bery in Denver, has died of a heart attack,Yocum, 52, was buried last week in Flagler, where he lived as a boy.“I do believe that Paul’s untimely death is a direct result of the grief that he suffered over the last two years,” said Bob Brown, a private investigator who worked to clear Yocum’s name in both cases. “Paul was convicted of no crimes,but I think he felt as though he’d been punished.I think he even punished himself.”Police named Yocum as a suspect in the bank robbery during which four guards were killed, but he was never charged.James King, a former Denver police officer and bank guard, was tried for the execution-robbery but was acquitted earlier this year.Pair allegedly killed for motor home: A29-year-old man allegedly killed an elderly couple near Glenwood Springs so he could steal their motor home to impress a former girlfriend who had moved to Colorado, grand jury transcripts show.David Bollinger, 29, was arrested in May andcharged with stealing the vehicle, killing Jamesand Rose Vertrees, ages 80 and 73, respectively, and leaving their burning bodies in a Rifle trash bin April 30.The transcripts revealed that Bollinger had been living in Reno, Nev., with a dancer named Patricia Eich, who had mentioned how handy a motor home would be.Eich said Bollinger was romantically interested in her and wanted to come to Colorado and “restrike up the relationship.”She said she left Reno while Bollinger was in jail there for nonsupport and grand larceny.After moving in with her mother in Aurora, Eich received a phone call from Bollinger saying he had a motor home and was in Aurora.Gazette Telegraph news services
