i Attempted A Sr a ilt -Sunday morning a Mexican at Sugar City, who gave his name as lilacio Lachuga. a g« d about 25 or 30, attempted to commit an assault upon the person of a 12-year-old girl named (Van Octre. It seems that the Kiri 1 ad driven some cows down to Lake Meredith to water them when Lachuga sei/ed her and the attempted u-sault occurred. I’ersons in the vi-l cinity witnessed the affair and drove off the assailant, who came near to being lynched by the infuriated pco-| nlc. He was finally rescued by the ! officers and brought to Ordway and . was later taken to I’ueblo and lodged in the county jail pending his preliminary examination.
