One of the station men went into the closet and found a watch wrapped up in a paper. Nothing was thought of this further than that Johnson had stolen it and did not want to carry it, or that he would get it at some future time.About nine p. m. word was received here that George W. Williams and wife had been ,found murdered, and suspicion was directed ■ toward Johnson. The story of the watch .1 was told, and when Cal Williams, a cousinof the murdered man. was shown the watch he immediately identified it as belonging to \ George W. Williams. Sheriff Blair and Cal Williams then went to the depot to take j the one a. m. train for Kendalville, where Johnson was known to have gone. The Jtrain being late, the train from the west arrived first. Johnson was seen to tret off and start around back of the depot, when he was arrested by Cal Williams.The privy vault was opened this morning and the pocket-book belonging to the murdered man, together with papers belonging to him were found. Johnson is now in jail.
