HORRIBLE MURDERthere lias grown up quite an undergrowth of cherry trees, nearlv concealinglt;A Farmer anil His Wife Chopped to Pieces anil Robbeil by a Farm Hand.WACSSON, Oct. 27.One of the most revolting murders known to the calender of crime was discovered Thursday afternoon at about three o'clock p. in., five miles south of here on the county line between Henry and Fulton Counties, by Adison Crow, a farmer in that neighborhood. Crow having some business with George W. Williams called at his house on Wednesday. Finding 110 one at home, and supposing that Mr. Williams and family were at Wauseon, he returned home. O11 n Thursday lie again called at the Williams v house, and again found no one at home, e lie started away, but his attention was at- v tracted to the barn by an unusual noise £ made by the horses. As he opened the stable door he found the horses tangled up in u their harness. Crow stepped in. straight- f ened the horses around to their places and s passed to the door leading to the barn floor j] with the intention of giving them some hay, j when he was horrified by discovering his neighbor’s dead body lying on the floor, covered with blood and his head nearly sev- d ered from the body. tThe alarm was quickly given, and a t number of persons soon gathered. To- t gether they went Pi the house and tried each door, but could not get in. While discussing what was best to be done, they heard the faint cry of a babe in the house, j. when they broke open the door. Passing f Into the sitting-room, then to the kitchen, and finally going into the family j bedroom, they were again horrified to find Mrs. Belle Williams (nee Atkinson) lying lt;upon her back covered with her own life- £ blood, and with her head literally chopped o pieces. Upon the bed was a three-months- ^ old babe, the only member of that once r happy family that had been spared from the murderous blows of the assassin. The news spread over the surrounding country like fire.The house where the Williams family ^ lived is an old frame dwelling, it being one of the first built in Freedom township, Henry County, and stands back from j the road some fifteen rods.
