Stevens Point—A nugget of pure copper, weighing 10 pounds, was found by Leo Travicki while he was excavating for gravel on his farm in the town of Sharon northeast of Stevens Point. Other pieces of copper have been found 011 the same farm and in that vicinity in the past. This partof Portave countv, once in the area• » lt;covered by the edge of the great glacier, is filled with knolls and mounds, many of them cov» red with large boulders'-. The copper, it is believed, was brought down from the copper ranges in pre-histcric days by the glacier. Copper Ints never been discovered in sufficient quantities to warrant mining it on farm land in this country.
