GL Dr.srJack Johnson Given a Dose'] of the Law at Crown Point Yesterday.i(Special to The Times.)Crown Point, Ind., May 31.—Jack j s Johnson, the notorious white slaver ran afoul of the law in Crown Point yesterday afternoon while burning up the road from Cedar Lake and was ar- I j rested with Lucile Cameron Johnson, j t his white wife by Officer Platt on ajf charge of speeding. Johnson protested his innocence of going faster than eight miles but to no* avail as Plat had j ^ the goods on him. The big black and \ j, the little white w’ife w'ere taken before Judge Atkins, where he was fined with costs in a sum amounting to about *14.Johnson flashed a hundred dollar bill to pay his fine, thinking that as the banks and saloons were closed that the amount could not be changed in the city. Platt however was not long In getting the necessary change andJohnson and his better half left the fdjcity, deriding everything in it. It is treported that they were arrested later j rin Dyer for the same offense.t
