She heard a shot fifed and heard DailyBay “Oh. Dennis.” Immediately shethinks,she..heard another shot.and a' repetition- of the same words! She got up and dressed herself and passed out doors .by a door opening directly from her room which was in a wing •or leanto, met Deunis coming out or the house by an other door in the main building. Mrs.'2Coll said “Dennis' what have you done? Dennis replied “3 could not help it. I could not help it.” She turn-cle and went into her room and shortly after. Dennis went in and up stairs. Soon she heard a scuffle and a noise as if one person was dragging another down stairs.- The scuffle continued in the other room and she took her baby, and two larger -children' and left .the house going, to William Dyke’s.-She called up Mr. Dvke .and asked to stay ail night .as she said she was afraid and thought . Dennis was ..crazy and had killedithe hired man. ’Mr.*Dyk'e was mucfrightened but allowed Mrs.'Noil to goMp;stairs and-go to 'bed. Shortly after, this Hogan came up to the .house and called'for Dyke. -Dyke did ; not go out but fastened the door. Hogan, then went home and}afterwards came again and desired Dyke to go home with him saying he was in trouble and must die. Dyke refused to go and Hogan went home shortly after returning again, say- . ing that he had come to bid them good , bye. Dyke let him in, when-he weiiti. through the House and kissed all the ;! family and Mrs Noll's family good bye. He then got Dyke tb go with him. and gave bihr instructions what to do with the personal property. Dyke then returned home and Ilbgan went to his own house.
