Mass.. toRalph E and Phyllis Ava(Howard) Slinev Sr.-Ralph was a lieutenant colonel inthe U.S. Air Force and served during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. After his activedutv service he was with the U.S.0Department of Defense as an aerospace engineer retiring as Chief of Performance. Aerospace Division at Wrnght Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. Ohio. He was an Associate Fellow with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Sigma XI Research Society. Civil Air Patrol, Dayton Police Department Auxiliary. American Rocket Society. Past Commander. Scout Master and held the Silver Beaver Award with Boy Scouts of America in Ohio. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Marilyn, moved to Englewood from Dayton in 1981. In Florida he was an Assistant Scout Master as well as a member of the Englewood Elks Lodge. U.S. Power Squadron in Venice and Port Charlotte. Venice Yacht Club and A.A.R.P. He was an active member of the Englewood United Methodist Church and helped often as a parking attendant on Sundays and for special events.He is survived by his wife, Marilyn J. (Wagner) Sliney of Englewood; a son, Timothy J. Sliney of Port Charlotte; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael F. Sliney of Dayton.
