Former Waitress Convicted OfManslaughter In Girl's DeathI!NfotidiBy JOHN PRYORNEW YORK (UPIV-Four cases of champagne, meant to help fun-loving Alice Crimmins forget her three-week murder trial, sat unopened in a Queens supper club today.Mrs. Crimmons, a pretty, 28 year-old former cocktail waitress,had been confident an all-male jury would exonerate her of charges that she murdered her 4-year-old daughter.Early' today the jury ended more than 13 hours of deliberation and found the redhaired Mrs. Crimmins guilty of first degree manslaughter. Sentencing on the charges, which carries a maximum 10 to 20 years m prison, was set for July 12.Instead of celebrating an acquittal with champagne at the chic supper club across the street from the court, Mrs. Cnmmins was ordered to the Women’s House of Detention, a grim Greenwich Village jail which inmates once described at an official inquiry as “a anake pit.”Supreme Court Rejects Test Of Club LawCHARLESTON (UPI) -The West Virginia United Church Alcohol Action Program (UCAAP) has lost another battle in its fight against the state’s private club liquor law.The state Supreme Court Monday refused to consider a petition from the temperance organization to have the case ref But before the distraught woman could be removed to the House of Detention, she “broke down and became hysterical.” a Department o f Corrections spokesman said, and w*as taken to Elmhurst City Hospital.The spokesman said Mrs. Crimmins would undergo “extensive care for the next few days” at the hospital before being transferred to the prison.| The sensational trial stemmed from the deaths of Mrs. Crimmins’ two children, Alice Marie, 4. and Edmund Jr., 5, in July 1965The state claimed Mrs. Crimmins. charged only with the girl’s death, had killed to keep the children from going to her airline mechanic husband in a custody battle. They reco-ciled after the youngsters died.During her trial. Mrs. Crimmins admitted to affairs with a number of men before and after her children's deaths. But she denied knowing how the youngsters vanished from their bedroom and were slam.The prosecution’s case included testimony by Mrs. Sophie 'Earomirski, a neighbor, who said she looked out of her living room window at 2 a.m. July 14, 1965. and saw' Mrs. Crimmins carrying a blanket-w rappedform.Joseph Rorech, 39, testified Mrs, Crimmins told him during a motel tryst a year after the girl died: “Joseph, can youforgive me?
