Pascagoula Democrat-Star: After remaining in the county jail for a year, W. N. Newberry, charged withassault and batterv with intent to kill and murder N W. Smith, a turpentine distiller from near Vaneleave, was acquitted tv a jury Saturday last. Mr, Newberry was regarded tvthe ja I officials as one of the least troublesome aod most gentlemanly prisoners ever consigned to their charge. His restoration to his famiy formed a most pathetic scene.
