For the Journal.The Daugherty Gate.I am puzzled to know what defense can be made in this case.— The man Joseph Vanhorn was killed. Wm. W. Daugherty killed him. We all know this. Was Daugherty insane? His friends nor counsel do not claim this! Did he not kill him in self-defense? No, it is not so pretended ? Had there been a quarrel between them? Oh no ! They were strangers to each other personally, and Daugherty had been hunting him coolly with the determination to shoot him.Then is Daugherty either justifiable or excusable ? I can’t see it?
