, The Daugherty Case.Since Lie at. Daugherty has been removed from Howard county, through the influence of affidavits that he could not get justice done, we see that no harm can result from the publication of communications expressive of the convictions of a very large olass of our citizens. Whilst other county papers have been trying te influence public opinion we have kept quiet so that the ends of justice might be met without interference upon our part. We have not editorially passed jndgment upon Daugherty nor have we lauded him to the skies. We have kept back communications that were called out by uncalled for articles in other journals, for the sake of allaying excitement. In allowing some of them a place now in our columns we cannot be accused ot trying to influence the people of Howard against the Lieut, as he is now in an other county for trial by a Jurychosen outside of Howard. The article in another part of the paperis written by one of our “cool-headed” citizens and a man who looks at things as they really appear to he.
