iSuicide of a .Tliiiister.We learn that the Rev. Dr. J. S Tomlinson, of Neville in this county, committed suicideby cutting1 his throat with a razor, about fiveo'clock ou Saturday night last. Ho had beensuffering for some months with a very depressed condition of health and spirits, the latter caused by the death of a favorite sen. Mr. Tomlinson was formerly president of Augusta, Ky., College, afterwards president of Ohio University at Athens, and mure recently appointed to a professorship in a college at Springfield, Ohio. He was a man of rare attainments as a scholar, and. we believe, occupied a high standingin the Methodist Episcopal Church.P. S. We learn further that the act of self destruction was premeditated. A letter was found in his pocket assigning his reason therefor. They were stated tobe, ill healthloss of a favorite son, during the last summer *the absence of an income adequate to the j necessities of his family, exciting fears that; they might come to want—and other reasons, which, although involving no culpability on the part of any inetnbet of his family, it would be improper here to repeat.—Clermont Cour.
