Sherman Carey Is Sentenced To Term In Santa Rosa JailSANTA • ROSA, May 24.—lt;ZP1— Sherman . Curey, a candidate for Stanislaus County . sheriff at the last \ election, was sentenced to eight months in the. county' jail and put on three»year’s probation today following his plea of guilty to a check charge.He was one of three defendants arrested-in Modesto a month ago on a warrant charging they issued four fictitious checks lost year. All pleaded guilty .before, Superior Judge Donald Geary.James M. Cole was sentenced to one year in thd county jail and his wife, Mrs. Anna Cole,,the third defendant, was .dismissed to return to her Modesto home .-to care for a minor 'daughter.Carey- sought the office of Sheriff Grat Ho gin at the last Stanislaus County election.-11
