Guilty of Adultery.The first three days o{ last week’s circuit court were taken up in the trial of the State vs. William Bipperdan andMary Bipperdan, of Washington township, charged with having committed adultery. Fifty witnesses were examined. The State was represented by the Prosecutor, assisted by Major W. Funk* and tbe defense by James K. Marsh, of Jeffersonville, and George Self. The case was ended by the jury returning a verdict of guilty and assessing as thepunishment of William Bipperdan a fine of $400 and four months in jail, and against Mary Bipperdan a fine of $10 and ten days in jail. The decision of the jury gave general satisfaction.
