iviunev iui ueumi ui*W0Riverton Parke schoolsBy Melissa VogtTribi ne-StarThe Riverton Parke Athletic Boosters had less than $50 in its bank accounts and owed Sam’s Club $3,500 when members kicked out their treasurer last July.Eight months after internal reorganization, the club had paid off the debt and had about $16,000 in the bank.Now the former treasurer is accused of mishandling the club’s funds, which are supposed to benefit student-athletes at Riverton Parke Junior/Senior High School in Montezuma.Annamaria M. Walton, 39, was arrested on a warrant in her Rosedale home Thursday night. She was the club’s treasurer from sometime in 1999 to July 2002.Walton has been charged with seven counts of class-D felony theft. Indiana State Police say she made personal purchases on the group’s Sam’s Wholesale Club account and improperly donated some of the club’s money to another group in which Walton was active.
