May 24—L. G. Phare*.chief of the state highway patrol,today said the rewards for Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, “dead or alive,” would be withheld pending trial of Billie Mace and Floyd Hamilton at Fort Worth. The patrol chief, suspecting Clyde and Bonnie, had guaranteed a reward of $1,000 for slayers of two patrolmen near Grapevine Easter Sunday. He had collected about $4,000 in free-will contributions. He said from this amount would come some expenditures for expenses incurred incident to the hunt for the killers. Hamilton and Billie Mace have been charged with the killings.with
