Information I to ibis effect was received here latelast night.All Ventura county knows the storv4#of the death of two of this county's finest officers. Justo Garcia, a Mexican. was shot to death on the factory lane one Sunday evening by an unknown person, said to have been Joe Duran, lie was said to be in com-pany with 1'cdro Rumare/,. Constable Kedcy get information which led him to believe the two suspects were in a shack at Owensniouth. He and Sheriff McMartin went to Owensniouthand 1 orated the shack. McMartin led#the wav, Kelley stood by with his hand on his revolver. An order was j given to the men inside to open the door, lie door opened and before ' the oarers had time to speak theyE:were fin t down by the two men, who fled from the bujlding. McMartin was killed Instantly. Kelley was rushed to a receiving hospital. A posse of officers and deputy sheriffs gave j chase to the men and cornered Pedro Rnmarez in a thicket of trees, where it is claimed be ended his own life after being shot by one of the officers. Joe Duron escaped.On the operating table at the reoeiv-ing hospital Constable Kelley told of how thy men opened the door andhron. lie said he thought Kamarez participated in the shooting. He was relating the thrilling story when he died. A search for Kamarez was then started, but to no avail. No word of Hit* missing man has been found until word came through that he was located in Mexicali. Officers here are in hopes he will he apprehended and given ff le justice.
