John F. Buckley Sentenced. One of the saddest scenes witnessed in the Court Room for a long time was last Monday afternoon, when John F. Buckley, a well known and prominent farmer of Greens-fork Township, was sentenced to the penitentiary on a plea of guilty to the charge of forgery. His faithful wife with a young boby in her arms was present and there were not many dry eyes in the room. The forgery was discovered some time ago, and John at once confessed his guilt and said that he would plead guilty to the charge. He has placed all his property at the disposal of his creditors, but it will not satisfy the claims in full and there is likely to be some litigation over the settlle ment.He wus sentenced to the Btate Prison at Michigan City from two to fourteen years and fined $10. Deputy Sheriff Albert King will take him to prison this morning. Mr. Buckley has a wife and nine children, ranging from sixtee.1 years to a babe in arms, and there is a great deal of sympathy for his family.County Council.
