Woods, who iives five miles east of Crosbyton, to the post.Bills of indictment naming Karr which were returned by the grand jury stipulated felony thefts occurring between May 10, 1955 and April 15. 1956.To obtain checks on a county fund, it is necessary to get war-' rants for the amount from the! county clerk s office. These are turned over to the county treasurer who makes out the checks, longtime Crosby Resident A resident of Crosby County virtually all his life. Karr is a combat veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Silver Star. I His service to the county began with election as tax assessor-col-lector in 1946. He held the post from Jan. 1. 1947. until Jan. 1, 1951. He later served as chief deputy in the tax office. 'An audit of county hinds reported as of Dec. 31 of last year showed wide variances in the amounts of money remaining in the four precinct road and bridgefunds.! The audit showed $12,814.18 rr-jmained in the Precinct 1 fund; ,! $21,850 in the Precinct 4 fund; j $14,963 in the Precinct 3 fund; and-$1,956 in the Precinct 2 fund, i E. H. Also aiding the grand jury were Gene Cobh and Don Book-out. both assistant district attorneys. IOther indictments returned by the grand jury included re-indict-1 ments of Jessie Allen and Willie Floyd Lloyd, both in Lubbock County jail.
