Adams, on his way to the house of a patient, he saw a crowrd of roughs beating a uian, whose name was afterward learned to be Oarvis Though Garvis was unknown to Dr. Buckner, the latter undertook to interfere, whereupon he was assailed by the rowdies, who beat him up very severely. One of the assailants, named James Connelly, was arrested and locked up in Hammond Street Sta tion. - ' *
