Godbey bound for grand juryRaleigh County Magistrate T.H Wills Monday ruled probable cause exists to believe Mary Lew Godbey conspired to abduct a North Carolina preacher.Following a brief preliminary hearing Monday afternoon. Wills ordered the Mabscott woman to be bound over to the grand jury for possible indictment. The 41-year-old woman remains jailed on $15,-000 bond.Mabscott Police Chief Charlie Thompson testified during the hearing Monday that Godbey and her accomplice. Paula Carol McGuire, conspired to abduct the Rev. Quinton Mills of North Carolina.Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney K. Bruce Lazenby presented a copy of a forged warrant, allegedly prepared by Godbey and McGuire. McGuire, who supplied the warrant to police, allegedly told Thompson she and Godbey prepared the document in a false attempt to arrest the preacher on marijuana chargesThompson tola HIje firqistrr/Hr-rald earlier that the two women hoped Mills would fall in love with Godbey after they brought him back to West Virginia and would marry her.According to the police chief. McGuire told him they used Godbey’s typewriter to prepare the warrant. Godbey, he said, signed the document with a fictitious name of a Mercer County magistrate.Thompson told Wills he interviewed the preacher Monday morning, whose statement supported the statement given by Mcuuire.
