The endorsers are likethe endorsed ; the spirit of one is thespirit ©f all.A very prominent feature in this sc-called “ history, etc., is the space devoted to the case of the unfortunateAnthony Bewley. As honorable mention is made of him on the title page,and particular attention given fromthe beginning of the second chapteron to a rather indefinite extent, it maybe proper for us to devote a moment or two to a notice of the case at once.The writer of these lines and the*late Eev. A. Bewley were well acquainted with each other in early life,1and to the day of Bewley’s death theywere on most friendly terms with eachother. Their fathers also were wellinteresting part of the narrative, notwithstanding the perversions and false coloring the editor has tried To give them.In, due time, Providence permitting, we will refresh the public mind on the■subject generally, and present somematters connected with it not generally known heretofore.For the present we- close by callingattention to thefollowing extractfrom the 170th page of the book : “Ellis G-. Evans, of Kolia, Mo., addressed acommunication to the Central Christian Advocate, September 7, 1887, relative to this martyrdom and the burial of its victim, in which he says:“ ‘The nest day the body was taken down and put under the ground, but in about three weeks was taken up, and the bones were stripped of their flesh and put upon the roof of the store house of Captain Eph. Daggett,who still resides at that place in affluence.■The bones seemed to be in care of Dr. Peak, who occasionally went up and turned them about.
