The cells and all Iron work which was put in by the j Fnniey Iron works, of St. Louis, hnrbeen finished for some time and was accepted by the commisBlonerH in April. The work of yesterday wan to inspect the stone and wood work done by Frazier Co., of this city.Architect Hopkins, of Topeka, met with the commissioner* and viewed tlie work done. After carefully Inspecting the structure and hading the work thoroughly done tbs jail was accepted.- The new jail is one of the strongest and most complete In the state. The basement is fitted for coal and stare rooms,.while the first fioor front ia the Jiu!oi9a residence. In the rear, in the center of a Urge court, are two rows of cells, while another portion Is arranged for female prisoners. The eeeend story is arranged as the first with the exception that the cells have not 6«en put Id, It being found unnecessary at present. The building ia complete in construction, being thoroughly ventilated, and with bath rooms and sanitary advantages In connection.The building was left open for the Inspection of the curious public and a largo number availed themselves of the opportunity of becoming acquainted with the interior arrangements of the county 1ms-lilo.
