OFFICIALS SEEK CLUE TO BRUTAL ATTACK AT FLORAASSAILANTS OF JOE AND MOLLY SHI HER LEAVE FAINTTRAIL 2Local authorities are at work today knitting together the faint clues of one of the mo9t brutal attack cases which has occured in this county for ' several years, the second assault and attempted robbery of Joe and Molly Shi rex, aged couple living near Flora.The seventy year old retired farmer and his sister were overpowered Sunday night by two 3'outhful crudely masked bandits who bound them to chairs, gagged them and resorted to torture in an effort to disclose a supposed large sum of money which they believed to be hidden in the house. Mr. Shirer has been confined to bed under the care of a physician since the attack.Frightened by the noise of the struggle the assailants fled without obtaining the loot. Mr. Shirar finally managed to obtain a pen knife from his pocket and cut himself loose and gave the alarm.Not long ago the two were subjected to srrffiTar treatment at the hands of two youthful robbers.Authorities working cn the casehave been handicapped by a lack of description of the offenders. Officials believe the masks indicate local talentSheriff Bert Clifton was not notified until Monday afternoon.
