SHOPPINGTRIP LEDTO MURDERBoth Men Wanted to Go With Mrs. DeWitt; One is DeadNotv ton, N. J., May 1G.—Jealousy led to the killing of Robert. Constable by .his employer, Harry DeWitt, 011 the Edward Judson farm in Wantage township this afternoon. DeWitt u^ed a double barrel shot gun.Constable and DeWitt married sisters. Constable's wife left him to make her home in Middletown, N. Y.This afternoon Mrs. DeWitt ' prepared to go shopping, and Constable, after hitching up a horse to DeWitt's spring wagon, offered to drive her over.DeWitt heard the remark. Oh, no you won’t. I’ll drive her myself/' threo witnesses declare they heard DeWitt say. I think I will/' Constable replied.Without a word De Witt turned and entered the house, emerging with the gun. Mrs. DeWitt was already seated in the wagon and Constable, his back turned to her husband, was Just driving away when DeWitt fired.DeWitt throw- the gun away 'and fled. The farm is -only a few hundred feet away from the New York state line, and ho made his way across the border.DeWitt was followed and captured by deputy sheriffs, who brought him back to‘the county Jail.The above dispatch to tho New York Sun contains some additional particulars of the murder near Union-vllle, Friday afternoon, covered at length in the Timee-Press of that day. |Constable woe omployed last* fall as an O. W. fireman. Ho boarded on Dindon avenue for tbreo months. His landlady stated that during that time- Mrs. De Witt was nt tho house pvor-night only once.• Mr. Constable's boy and girl hoarded at.the DeWitt place In Unionvjllo and Mrs. DeWitt came to town on pay day for the money. One time when sho called, Conslablo did not return from work till early in the morning. Mrs. DeWitt spent that night at«the 'boarding house. This was the. only instance that she was there for more than an hour. Mrs. Constable did not live with her husband dufing this period. Constable is said: to have been very close-mouthed'about hie private affairs.J
