Belief ontaine ManDenies Death CountBELLEFONTAINE — Zerrel D. Cummins, 31, of here pleaded innocent Friday in Logan County Common Pleas Court to a charge of first degree murder. He was indicted Thursday by the grand jury for first degree murder in connection with'the April 16 death of his 2Vi-year-old stepson, Keith Byrd.Judge Richard Finefrock set June 2 as trial date. The jurist sustained a defense motion requiring the state to supply a bill of particulars, but denied a defense motion to grand bond for Cummins.Cummins was taken into custody by police Thursday on a secret indictment returnedtody April 18 after the child’s death in the Lima hospital. Prosecutor Douglas MacGil-livray said Cummins claimed the child was run over accidentally with an automobile in the driveway of the family home.The Cummins family lives in a mobile home court here.MacGillivray has declined to elaborate on the manner in which the child died.Cummins is employed at the Lima Ford Engine Plant He is in the Logan County jail without bond.Wednesday by Logan County grand jurors.Cummins was taken into cus-111
