PRETTY WINNIE LEMONHAND5 ONE TO THE GINGERY • FAMILY THIS MORNING.Declares That They Induced Her to Leave Home—The Follce CourtPrety Winifred Lemon, an Inmate of the Indiana School for Feeble-Minded Youth, was on the witness stand this morning in police court to testify in the case against Harry and Hazel Gin: Keryfor aiding her to escape from the institution where she has been confined. The girl was In the highest class, and was In'every wny normal am! bright, except that she was occasionally subject to masked epilepsy. The girl said that when Gingery and Ills wife wore employed at the Institution they look a Inncy to her and talked over with her the subject of aiding her to escape. Finally, just before break In their connection with the institution. they made an agreement that ?,irs. liingory’s next coming to the In-iiv!tu(foil should be the sign for the escape. With the use of a duplicate ke'.\ made by Gingery, the girl was enabled to escape and was lodged at thfcr house for a. day. Mr. Gingery then we'ut part way with her to Lima* where she was left to shift for herself.' The girl said that she left the Institution understanding that the Gingery*; would provide a homo for her. She said that she did not understand the situation at the lime, hut That she was sorry that she had left. She staid Hint she would not have done It except under the Influence of the Gi»-gc-rys, as she has kind friends ni the Institution. She Is twenty-one years old and intimated lluit slic- would now take other stops and ondcavoi to Ije released from the insiitutlon in the proper way. The two defendants, who were tried jointly, wore bon ml over to the circuit court under a bond of $200 each. The ease was tried before Special Judge William Gallon.
