The committee recommend the dispensing with the services of an engineer to run the engines, as it is believes that when ihe water works are completed and aceepted there will be no further need of the engine*, which may be sold and pay the entire coet of reorganizing the fire department.The hose stations will be as follows; No 1, central station, will be at the Market house ; station No. 2 on 8euth Hill; station No 3 on West Hill; station No. 4 on North Hill. The oommittee was not able to determine the exact location of the stations and recommended advertising for suitable locations in oruer to be able to as certain upon what terms suitable lots could be leased for a term of years.The committee had prepared plans for station houses 18x30 feet, which was sub- i mitted to the council for approval. They hid made an estimate of the coet of the three stations on the hills, two new hose carts and the necessary harness and other equipments, the whole amouutiDg to $2,795.Ttse report was not acted upon last nighr, j» w*t laid cn the table for cue week.
